Faculty of Civil Engineering and Built Environment

The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Built Environment is one of the key faculties within the Institute of Technology at Hawassa University. It plays a vital role in shaping the physical infrastructure and urban landscapes of Ethiopia through high-quality education, research, and community engagement.

The faculty is composed of four academic departments that offer a multidisciplinary approach to the built environment:

• Civil Engineering
• Architecture
• Construction Technology and Management (CToM)
• Urban Planning and Design

These departments are committed to producing professionals who are equipped with the technical knowledge, creative thinking, and ethical grounding necessary to address the growing demands of infrastructure development, sustainable urbanization, and construction management in Ethiopia and beyond.

Each department offers undergraduate programs designed to meet current industry standards, and some departments also run postgraduate programs aimed at deepening expertise and advancing research in specialized fields.
